You are welcome to... |
||
| As always, a number of our events are offered on a donation basis. During our first eight years, we almost always suggested donations of at least $5. However, given the Center’s financial condition, it’s become necessary to increase the suggested donation to $10 for some of those events, and to $20 or more for a few. Please understand that donations are still entirely voluntary, that donations of every size are truly appreciated, and that we don’t want anyone to decide not to come to these events for financial reasons. The Center’s priority always is to be of service and fulfill our mission as a charitable organization, rather than to make a profit (we never have). Please support us to the extent you can and to the extent you feel the Center is of value to you. | ||

REVISED - Every Day - CASUAL TOURS AND BRIEF SINGING BOWL SESSIONS by Jack Sisk. Everyone is welcome to visit the Center and see why so many people consider it one of the safest and most sacred place they’ve ever been. When time permits, which it usually does, Jack loves to introduce people to the facilities, programs and experiences the Center offers. The standard tour now takes 75 minutes, but longer tours are possible at times. Even the standard tours include introductions to many religious/spiritual traditions, are very experiential, and typically end with Jack playing and toning with a crystal singing bowl, which gives a brief introduction to the Center’s large set of those bowls. (Many people say the full bowl sessions provide the most profound meditative experiences they’ve ever had, and people often go beyond this into visions, spiritual insights, emotional releases, physical healings, and experiences of the divine.) No appointment is necessary, but it’s wise to call to check Jack’s availability. There’s no charge for the standard tours. Donations are welcomed to support the Center; but donations always are purely voluntary, and we certainly don’t want people to avoid coming to the Center due to financial considerations.
Sunday - FAMILY GATHERING (TALKING CIRCLE) facilitated by Jack Sisk, 12:15-1:45. We come together as a loving family to honor and celebrate each individual’s sacred identity and the divine reality that links us together. We connect to each other and to the one reality that underlies all religious and spiritual traditions. This is a sacred and confidential Talking Circle - we pass a talking stick and learn from each other. Everyone is committed to be loving and compassionate. You might hear readings from various traditions and authors, music from various cultures, and much more. Considerable support and insights are generated. Participation is encouraged, but not required. Donations are requested to support the Center (at least $10 would be greatly appreciated, if you can afford it).
Sunday - SILENT MEDITATION AND PRAYER GATHERING led by Jack Sisk, 4:30-5:15. Each gathering centers on a 30 minute session of silence for meditation or prayer. This began as a meditation gathering, but we’ve expanded it to include people who would prefer to pray - everyone is invited! Brief meditation instruction (in Buddhist and Hindu forms) can be provided prior to the gathering by appointment, and the period of silence will be followed by an opportunity for discussion. Donations are requested to help support the Center (at least $10 would be greatly appreciated, if you can afford it).
Tuesday - SPIRITUAL STUDY GROUP - WHAT IS ENLIGHTENMENT facilitated by Tim Altpeter and others, 7:00-8:30. This study group addresses various current books, videos and subjects. Every week is a new experience. This very animated group rides the wave of current spiritual developments. Donations are requested to support the Center (at least $10 would be greatly appreciated, if you can afford it).
REVISED - Thursday - REIKI/ENERGY CIRCLE, 7:00-11:00. All energy healing modalities are welcome in this powerful circle of healing, spiritual energy - a circle we’ve held nearly every Thursday for almost 13 years. This particular Circle is open only to practitioners. We start with a talking circle and brief meditation, and then share our healing energies. You may leave whenever you’re ready. Jack Sisk and Dr. Jim Lane take turns facilitating these Circles (Jack on the first and third Thursdays, Jim on the second and fourth). Donations are requested to support the Center (at least $10 would be greatly appreciated, if you can afford it).

REVISED - By Appointment - GROUP RELIGION/SPIRITUALITY TOURS OF THE CENTER by Jack Sisk. Jack offers private group tours of the Center by appointment, presenting a wide array of religions and spiritual traditions, and numerous opportunities for powerful spiritual experiences, culminating in either a 10-minute introduction to the crystal singing bowls or, if the group is at least eight people and it’s a full tour, an hour-long crystal singing bowl session including most of the Center’s bowls. Many people say the full bowl sessions provide the most profound meditative experiences they’ve ever had, and people often go beyond this into visions, spiritual insights, emotional releases, physical healings, and experiences of the divine. These tours are very popular. The shortest tours take about 75 minutes, and the longest (if the complete bowl session is included) can take three hours or more. These group tours often are scheduled in mornings (before the Center opens) or sometimes in evenings so as to maximize the private time. We require a minimum of five people for tours scheduled outside the Center’s normal hours. A donation of at least $10 per person is suggested for tours of two or more hours, except that students are free.
REVISED - By Appointment - GROUP SACRED SOUND CRYSTAL SINGING BOWL SESSIONS by Jack Sisk. Jack plays and tones with twelve crystal singing bowls (the largest of which is 32"). Many people say these sessions provide the most profound meditative experiences they’ve ever had, and people often go beyond this into visions, spiritual insights, emotional releases, physical healings, and experiences of the divine. The sessions take about two hours, which includes discussion time before and after the bowls are played. There’s a fee of $10 per person, and we require a minimum of eight people for these private sessions.
REVISED - By Appointment - INDIVIDUAL SACRED SOUND CRYSTAL SINGING BOWL ATTUNEMENTS by Jack Sisk. Jack performs private attunements with twelve crystal singing bowls (the largest of which is 32"), two metal singing bowls, toning, a didgeridoo, a large gong, two equally large drums, bells, and more. These are powerful spiritual and energetic experiences - virtually everyone feels the attunement is one of the most profound experiences they've ever had. The attunements typically take 2½ hours, and are strictly private (no observers). They’re performed on a love offering basis, but we request a donation of at least $100, if possible. Subsequent attunements are ninety minutes long, with a requested donation of at least $70. These sessions are by appointment only, and setting up the instruments takes considerable time and effort, so we request that a donation be made if you cancel on less than 24 hours notice. Please note that as mentioned earlier, Jack also offers singing bowl sessions for groups.

At 6:00, Dale leads the powerful Twin Hearts Meditation, which is used to direct peace, love, joy and goodwill to Mother Earth, blessing the Earth with Divine Light, Divine Love and Divine Power. It’s also a tool for achieving divine consciousness, and has many health benefits. It was created by Master Choa Kok Sui, the creator of Pranic Healing. Beginning at 7:00, Dale, Lynn, and other Pranic Healing practitioners offer a Pranic Healing clinic so you can experience this exceedingly beneficial healing modality. You also will be able to learn more about upcoming classes, meditations and events. Donations are requested to support the Center (at least $10 would be greatly appreciated, if you can afford it).
Saturday, May 11 - FIRST MONTHLY SACRED SOUND SINGING BOWL SESSION (usually held on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month) by Jack Sisk, 3:00-5:15. These sessions are more elaborate than in the past, and are quite sacred. Many people say these sessions provide the most profound meditative experiences they’ve ever had, and people often go beyond this into visions, spiritual insights, emotional releases, physical healings, and experiences of the divine. The sessions begin with a verbal introduction to the experience. There’s a fee of $10 (of course, you’re welcome to donate more if you like), and prior registration is required because space is limited. The Center’s doors will be closed to the public while these programs are taking place, so please arrive on time. Because of the high demand for this event, we’re limiting each person to one session per month, at least for now.
ON HIATUS - COPING WITH ILLNESS (usually held on the second Sunday of each month) with Janis Yakopovic, 1:00-3:00. This is a support group for people with chronic or disabling health issues. Donations are requested to support the Center and Janis (at least $10 would be greatly appreciated, if you can afford it). If you can, please let us know you’re coming.
Sunday, May 12 - SATSANG (SACRED DISCUSSIONS ON HINDUISM) (held on the second Sunday of each month) led by Jack Sisk and Donald Lenort, 3:00-4:00. While Jack supports all faiths at Living Insights, personally he’s been a Hindu for nearly 50 years, he’s very active at the Hindu Temple of St. Louis (for example, he gives tours), he offers courses in Hinduism, and he’s an experienced meditator. Donald is highly trained, extremely well read, and deeply experienced in meditation and other yogic practices and the states of consciousness they can take you to. There is no fee, but donations are suggested to support the Center (at least $10 would be greatly appreciated, if you can afford it). If you can, please let us know you’re coming.
CANCELLED - Wednesday, May 15 - SUFI ZIKR by Christopher Moinuddin Clarke, 7:00-8:30 pm. Moinuddin was a prominent local Sufi. He’s moved to Washington, DC, but comes back for visits and returns to Living Insights. Zikr means remembrance of our divine nature, a practice of reunion with our true selves and with the Divine Reality. Zikr practice uses meditation, breath and attunement to the sacred names of God, enabling us to remember this reality within our hearts. The event includes teachings and chanting. As the great Sufi Hazrat Inayat Khan said, “By Zikr, the expression of the countenance becomes harmonious, the voice becomes melodious, the presence becomes healing, and one’s magnetism is spread in the atmosphere. There is nothing that by Zikr cannot be accomplished, either an earthly or a heavenly thing. Some by Zikr have liberated their souls from all bondages and attained ideal perfection...” There is no charge, but donations are requested to support Moinuddin and the Center (at least $10 would be greatly appreciated, if you can afford it). Note: This Zikr is being cancelled as Moinuddin is postponing his trip to St. Louis. We hope to reschedule soon.
NEW - Thursday - Tuesday, May 16-21 - Jack will be out of town, and volunteers will be staffing the Center.
Wednesday, May 22 - HEALING TOUCH SESSIONS (usually held on the fourth Wednesday of each month) by Healing Touch practitioners, facilitated by Chris Rouse, Cindy Rouse, and Colleen Weidemeier, 6:00-8:00 pm. This is another great opportunity to experience wonderful energy work. Donations are requested to support the Center (at least $10 would be greatly appreciated, if you can afford it).
Saturday, May 25 - SECOND OF TWO MONTHLY SACRED SOUND SINGING BOWL SESSIONS (usually held on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month) by Jack Sisk, 3:00-5:15. See May 11 listing.
NEW - EVENT ELSEWHERE - Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day) - GATEWAY TO PEACE PROGRAM at Compton Heights Christian Church, 2149 South Grand Blvd., 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, followed by a Peace Walk to Tower Grove Park, and then a Potluck Picnic there at the Sons of Rest Pavilion. “Let us collectively build a ring of peace around St. Louis... Let this day be a day to memorialize the peacemakers...” Organized by Dr. Carl Van Alstine, with Cecilia Nadal of Gitana Productions as the keynote speaker and with many others participating, including Jack.
Sunday, June 2 - NEAR-DEATH STUDIES GROUP (almost always held on the first Sunday of every other month), 2:00-4:00. The local chapter of the International Association of Near-Death Studies (IANDS) holds their bimonthly meetings at the Center, and everyone is welcome to attend, whether or not you’ve had a Near Death Experience. These meetings celebrate life, love and remembrance. The meetings are free, although the group requests donations to the Center (at least $10 would be greatly appreciated, if you can afford it).
NEW - Sunday, June 2 - MONTHLY BHAJANS (PREVIOUSLY KIRTAN) (usually to be held on the third Sunday of each month). 6:30 to 8:30 pm. This is the next generation of our sacred Hindu chant gatherings, which previously were in the form of Kirtan. Bhajans are group chants, generally in Sanskrit, producing a powerful connection with the divine and an extremely joyful state of being. Kirtan is a form of bhajans in which participants repeat lines sung by a leader; by contrast, our new gathering will be group chanting without a single lead singer. Our new Bhakti Bhajan Band includes various performers (currently Donald Lenort as organizer and drummer, Dr. Jeff Hoffman on harmonium, Mike Webb on drum, and Kevin Miles and David Bruns on guitar). Join us in free-wheeling expressions of devotion and bliss! As before, this will be a free event, but donations are suggested to support the Band and the Center (at least $10 would be greatly appreciated).
Wednesday, June 5 - TWIN HEARTS MEDITATION AND PRANIC HEALING SESSIONS (held on the first Wednesday of each month), led by Dale Bilyeu and Lynn Maupin - Meditation at 6:00, Healing Sessions 7:00-8:30 pm. You also will be able to learn more about upcoming classes, meditations and events. Donations are requested to support the Center (at least $10 would be greatly appreciated, if you can afford it). |

PROBABLY JUNE (QUARTERLY) - MOVING TAPESTRIES: LIFE CHANGES, LOSS AND RENEWAL led by Diane Cogorno Castro, MA. Diane will bring her self as a fellow life traveler, as well as her professional expertise in dealing with daily challenges, both big and small. She will present simple practices to intentionally move one towards health, healing and wholeness, and will lead a dialogue about them. Specific attention will be given to tools one can put into practice immediately. This gathering is expected to become a quarterly event. There is no fee, but donations are suggested to support the Center (at least $15 would be greatly appreciated, if you can afford it). If you can, please let us know you’re coming.
NATIVE AMERICAN SPIRITUALITY STUDY GROUP by Victoria Fortner. Victoria is a prominent member of the Native American community, an Herbalist, and a member of Living Insights Board of Directors. She is a pipe carrier, a 19-year Sun Dancer, a 4-year Ghost Dancer, and a Storyteller and she travels nationally presenting workshops on Native American history, culture and traditions. Two pieces of her artwork are on permanent display at The Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. She’s done a number of programs here in the past, and they’ve all been very well received. We’re now creating a Native American Spirituality Study Group which will meet monthly, bimonthly or quarterly. This is an outstanding opportunity to go as deep into Native American Spirituality as you wish. By the way, Victoria accepts only gas money for her programs, and generously donates the rest to the Center. Note: This will be a get-to-know-each-other organizational meeting and an open discussion giving you an opportunity to get some of your questions answered.
RETURNING IN JUNE - TANIA MASSAMIRI PROGRAMS on Wednesday evening, June 12, and all day Friday, June 14. Details will be announced later.
ADDITIONAL EVENTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON. |
